Good stuff. Arlington is often overlooked with respect to the events of April 19th and the start of the Revolutionary War. Thank you.
Another Menotomy heroic favorite is Mother Batherick — I don’t know whether she has a plaque, but Arlington at one point put on, as part of its Patriot’s Day celebration, a reenactment of her rounding up of British soldiers.
But for a few days, Mr. Whittemore would have left the ephemeral creative days of April for the Bull of starting a war in May. Clever though, contributing to his 401K for another 18 years; starting Whittemore’s Hardware, Main street, Melrose! Great stuff!
