Student projects now online

I’d like to invite you to take a look at the final projects turned in by my students in Reinventing the News — not just blogs posts, but videos, photos and Google maps as well. There’s some very good work here, if I do say so myself.

  1. Dan,Great stuff. Many of your students made good use of document layout on their blogs, interweaving text and graphics in a meaningful way. I also like the way several of them used videos as ‘sidebars’ to the story (I put sidebar in quotes, because the videos themselves are more integral, in that they provide more depth to the story, but like a sidebar, you either read the story first then watch the video, or vice-versa).In any event, great job with the students and I hope we can find time to sit down and talk over the next few weeks.

  2. It was a great class! I really learned a lot. See you next semester. Happy Holidays!

  3. Dan, I haven’t had time to look at any of the projects yet (I will), but I was impressed here before with the magician/student, Jarod Molton and I even visited his website based on seeing him in a past Media Nation post. I’m sure all of the other students are equally talented in their own way, but I don’t come across too many stage magician / journalists. Insert joke about deadline beating journalists as magicians, here. Again, no disrespect to all of your other hardworking students, just curious whether Jarod aspires to be on stage or in media or both?

  4. Fish: Not sure about Jared’s career aspirations, though I think he’d love to go into magic professionally if he thought he could make a living at it.His project is about Genii, a Web site for magicians. So there you go.

  5. Dan,Unexpectedly, I found myself viewing your student’s projects this evening. Needless to say, I was thoroughly entertained. You’ve got quite a bright class on your hands! It is very interesting to watch the younger generation adapt to the ever changing world we live in. I received quite an education and hope I can adapt right along with them.Would any consider running for a selectman’s seat in Middleboro? We could use the brainpower down there (oops…my goal was to not think about the dreaded casino this evening!)
