You call this a plan?

Gov. Deval Patrick appears to have completely alienated State Treasurer Tim Cahill over his casino-gambling proposal — and Cahill’s a casino supporter. But that’s OK — the numbers don’t add up anyway (see this and this).

With the casino legislation smoldering around him, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Newton, picks the perfect time to say he favors casino gambling.

Finally, the Boston Daily blog is going to start flogging the casino story without mercy. So stay tuned.

Update: As of Wednesday night, the Herald reports that Patrick is trying to make amends with Cahill.

My standard disclosure.

  1. At 8:54 AM, Dan said: “Gov. Cahill risked his own political capital to endorse Patrick for Governor early on. Cahill gave Patrick some of his top confidantes. Cahill worked hard to get Patrick elected.Fast forward 9.5 months into Patrick’s term and this once warm relationship is as cold as ice, yet the reportage is limited entirely to their disagreement on the casino process. There is a much bigger story here and it would be great to read some coverage on it.

  2. You can always tell Harvard men…not much, but you can always tell who they are. This all smacks of the Hilary method: lock yourself behind closed doors, convene a council with 500 + “experts in their field (health care) and then release the results in the form of a legislative initiative which dies a quick but painful death. Do as much damage as possible to the existing health care system in the process and after the funeral deny you had much a role in the fiasco…oh, and refuse ever to tell anyone who the “experts” were.
