The Globe today goes with the Boston Police Department’s denial, and the Herald sticks by its story — although it does so in an odd enough way that Adam Gaffin headlines his item “Herald admits possible goof in Dorchester story.”

I will still stack up the Herald’s level of transparency with the Globe’s, (unless someone at City Hall is being cute). Re the black Escort: it was apparently parked at Ashmont Station or cruising the neighborhood for four days. Neither engenders much confidence.
