Brian McGrory on the future of The Boston Globe (II)

Eric Convey of the Boston Business Journal has transcribed much of Boston Globe editor Brian McGrory’s talk at the Shorenstein Center on Tuesday. Good stuff.

  1. Thanks, Eric. And thanks, Dan. That’s pretty straight talk; minimal spin.

  2. I’d be curious to know Brian’s (or the Globe’s) policy for turning the Comment section off for certain hot/hot button stories. This was the case for the big Jared Remy front-pager and the report of the death of Aunt Zeituni. Probably to keep the haters at bay, but should the Comment section be part of the marketplace of ideas, even if the ideas are repugnant to many?

@Tobe: Here was the Globe’s commenting policy as of 2011.
