Here‘s a stat I find strangely hopeful:”Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention was seen by more than 38 million people.”Nielsen Media Research said more people watched Obama speak than watched the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final “American Idol” or the Academy Awards this year. “I find it comforting that more people are interested enough in the 2008 election to watch the speech than are interested in American Idol. Cynic that I am, I would not have thought that was the case.
