I’m generally not a huge supporter of boycotts. They tend to be ineffective, and for every business you walk away from, there are others whose practices are equally worthy of condemnation. Walmart is the only place I won’t shop, yet I order from Amazon all the time. I’m well aware that makes no sense.
Now, though, I’m adding a second: Home Depot. I’m doing so at the urging of Georgia ministers who say the company has been taking a pass on protesting the state’s restrictive new voting laws aimed at disenfranchising Black Georgians. According to NBC News:
Standing outside of a Home Depot in Decatur, the religious leaders blasted Home Depot both for not speaking out against the legislation before it was passed into law and for refusing to meet with activists in the weeks since. They contrasted Home Depot’s actions to companies like Delta and Coca-Cola, which they said have been more willing to hear their concerns and attend roundtables to discuss issues like voting rights.
Your local hardware store has what you need.

Home Depot has been supporting conservative Republicans for years. It’s Lowe’s for me, if Botello (the local hardware/lumber store) doesn’t sell what I need.

I generally don’t worry about this stuff. I’m fine with New Balance and Samuel Adams, for instance. With Home Depot, it’s the involvement of the Black ministers that did it for me.

What local hardware store?
Actually we had one here in Nahant once upon a time but the only thing that kept him in business was some sort of contract he had with MassPort. When that came to an end, so did his viability.
There’s still Beden Hardware in Lynn but that has been continually shrinking for the last 40+ years.

I have not been to Home Despot in several years, they have bad politics and my local one is staffed by rude idiots – I do however have two locally owned hardware stores withing 4 miles or so of my home and a couple of other locally owned stores that do more industrial hardware and tools – and the folks in all 4 stores are nice to deal with.
