For Severin, no news is good news

Jay Severin began his first WTKK Radio (96.9 FM) show in a month by reading an apology, the text of which is on the station’s Web site. Then he switched over to distorting Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s record on racial preference. (Here are the facts.)

Pre-suspension, it’s pretty much a slam-dunk that he’d have snickered about her weight. And it’s unlikely that he would have lauded her “compelling life story,” as he did today. So that’s progress. I guess.

Can I change the station now? Thank you.

More: Not sure how long Severin’s apology will remain on WTKK.com, so here is a more permanent home.

False confession obtained by torture.Verification word: carcrock

As far as putting in more local content, Sal DiMasi was indicted while Severin was on the air and there was no mention. It was particularly odd since Jim Braude kept humping the 3:30 press conference on the preceding show.

That’s gotta really cramp Jay’s style, coming off a suspension for anti-Hispanic rhetoric and having to react to Sotomayor. How’s he gonna out-Beck Beck, or out-Hannity Hannity, if he’s looking over his shoulder for the shepherd’s crook?

Dan Kennedy…listening so you don’t have to!(Agree with many of his opinions, but think he’s vulgar…)

I reached into the desk and pulled out the G-5 to take a listen…but I just couldn’t do it. Didn’t have the stomach. Speaking of Sotomayer’s looks let’s just say “Time” did a very nice job on her–age 25?– cover this week.

Dunwich: Just looked at Time.com. It appears to be a painting, and not even a very good one. But, yes, it’s certainly flattering.
