The good: He defined the issues more succinctly than anyone has managed all year — restoring the American Dream at home and restoring America’s image abroad. Vague, obviously, but more evocative than mere change for change’s sake.
The not-so-good: He made a compelling case against Bush, who, the last time I checked, isn’t running. Yes, he tied McCain to the Bush agenda, but he left the knots kind of loose.

Now watch the GOP hit machine parse Clinton’s phrasing that Obama is the “best man” for the presidency. And watch the media go along.It’s still the economy, stupid. Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago? And is America better off today than it was 8 years ago? Being a good soldier doesn’t mean you’d make a good commander in chief. And being hit in the head every day for five years generally won’t make you good for anything.

Aaron: Claiming that McCain would represent a third Bush term works only if people think McCain and Bush are alike. In fact, McCain is seen as being independent from Bush by most voters. So that’s why Clinton’s speech wasn’t as effective as it could have been.

Was it Clinton or Biden who pointed out McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time? Expect to hear that a lot more in the coming days.

I was under the impression that this had been three solid days of tying McCain to Bush? After all, Biden MUST have planned the so-called gaffe when he said:“You know, folks, that’s the America that George Bush has left us. And that’s the America we’ll continue to get if George — excuse me, if John McCain is elected president of the United States of America. Freudian slip. Freudian slip.”Priceless.
